Indian interest in global events like FESPA seems to be peaking
with every passing event. The latest FESPA expo registered a
record number of Indian delegates. It could be surely said that
over 150 delegates from India made their presence felt at the
show. Grafica Flextonica, Monochem Graphics, Micro Inks, Indian
Chemical Industries and Screen Print India had put up their stalls
at the show.
The SPAI delegation of 45 members consisting of dealers,
manufacturers, and printers from across the county. Printers
formed majority of the Indian visiting team, unlike ealier times
when dealers used to participate in large numbers. “It was a wonderful event which every screen printer should if
possible not miss. The dynamic world that the industry we are in
is all laid out before your very eyes. Its nature and scope are
mind-bogging and could positively influence anybody who visit it
even casually,” opined a leading ink manufacturer who just
returned from Munich.

Record-Breaking Performance
When curtains came down on one of the largest of
screen and digital printing exhibitions in Munich,
FESPA 2005 has set some new records of sorts on such
events. Undoubtedly, the first record it broke was the
record numbers of visitors to the event. According to
the event organisers, a remarkable 20,301, visitors came
calling.
According to official statistics, a record 121 different
countries represented at the event, reflecting FESPA’s
unrivalled standing as the premier exhibition for the
global digital/screen and large format printing industry.
The fact that more than 60% of visitors were from
outside of Germany reflects that it did appeal to the
worldwide audience in the screen and digital industry.
They said that 53% of visitors were from other European
countries, whilst 9% were from other continents.
The fantastic environment, thanks to the screen and
digital technology manufacturers who brought their
products to market in Munich, also added charm to the
event with many of them launching or announcing new
products, services and businesses. Vendors around the
exhibition were buoyant, and visitors left with new
insights into technologies and techniques which will
help them drive their business forward.
ESPA Exhibition Director, Frazer Chesterman
comments: “We couldn’t be more thrilled with what we
achieved with this show. The event met the needs of our
exhibitors and provided a stimulating learning and
buying environment for screen and digital printers.”
The seminars, a first-time feature of FESPA 2005,
were also well attended, and the stands were buzzing
with activity. The three-day seminar on ‘flock and high
density printing’ offered by MHM, which took place
parallel to the FESPA event was very well-received by
all attending community. Shuttle buses took more than
200 clients to the nearby Austrian Kufstein/Erl company
headquarters. It provided visitors to obtain extensive
information about the elements of screen printing in all
its modern aspects, including the newly designed
software which is capable of separating colours for
CorelDraw users.
“This is a fast-moving industry with exciting new
applications emerging all the time. FESPA 2005 was an
international showcase for technical and production
innovation, and we left Munich highly motivated to
work with exhibitors and visitors to look at how we can
deliver an even better FESPA event in Berlin in June
2007,” he added.
The high motivation to work for an even better
performance was not limited to the expo director and his
energetic team. It seemed that every visitor returned
home recharged to do better and faster.

Overall, the show was the number one show for the
screen and large format digital printing marketplace. The
exhibition offered the perfect opportunity to see the very
latest technologies and services available in this fast
changing arena.
The show was such a super success that the organizing
team under Mr Chesterton ‘left Munich highly motivated to
work with exhibitors and visitors to look at how to deliver
an even better FESPA event in Berlin in June 2007.”
FESPA 2007 will be held in Berlin, Germany from June 5 -
9, 2007. A new digital-focussed FESPA event, FESPA
Digital Printing Europe, will take place in Amsterdam,
Netherlands from May 16 –18, 2006.
